We are a branch of The British Sub-Aqua Club, which is the largest and
oldest diving club in the World, our training will give you an Internationally
recognised qualification. We pride ourselves on the high level of training we
provide by experienced instructors.
We welcome beginners and can arrange a "Try Dive" to see
if diving is for you.
BSAC diver grades are as follows:
This is the basic qualification.
Training begins with lectures in diving theory and practical sessions in the
pool and once these have been mastered we can move into open water and after
you have built up experiences of dives in different conditions and depths you
will be able to dive to a maximum of 20 metres.
You will be trained in additional techniques to include diver rescue and practical safety techniques. The emphasis is on building on open water diving skills and expanding on your experience. Diving depths can be extended progressively to a maximum of 35 metres. Sports Divers can dive with other Sports Divers.
A more skilled and experienced diver. This training concentrates on the responsibilities of leading an open water dive. There are practical lessons in rescue management and rescue skills to give the confidence in dealing with those rare unforeseen emergencies
A very skilled and experienced diver who can organise and supervise diving expeditions at different sites and under different circumstances. This is the highest level of training a Branch can offer
These courses can be run in parallel to the above training, some being run
at Branch level or through Regional Coaches depending upon the course. Such
courses range from boat handling, first aid for divers, underwater photography,
to using different types of breathing gases.
